New book announcement

Regulating Autonomy, Sex reproduction and the family (edited by Day Sclater, Ebtehaj, Jackson and Richards) is a thought provoking new collection of essays, including chapters on prostitution, the abortion law, assisted conception, rape laws, and infant feeding policies. Overall the essays explore the nature and limits of individual autonomy in law, policy and the work of regulatory agencies.

ESRC Seminar Series

Over 2009 and 2010, colleagues involved with Parenting Culture Studies will be organising an ESRC funded seminar series title 'Changing Parenting Culture'. For more information follow the link at the top of this page.

New parents

Welcome to the Parenting Culture Studies Website (PCS)

The founding conference of the Parenting Culture Studies network was held at the University of Kent on May 21/22, 2007. It brought together scholars from countries including the UK, Canada, the US, Germany, Australia, Hong Kong, Norway to discuss issues ranging from stranger danger to breastfeeding to teenage motherhood. To find out more, follow the links on the left.

A further international conference on the theme of Reproductive Choice and Parenting Culture is planned for Spring 2011.
